Japanese Warm White Iron Glazed Duo

I found these two small iron vases during one of my earliest trips to Japan. Whether it was Tokyo or Osaka has become less important than the objects themselves, which have quietly accompanied me for well over a decade. When I first brought them home, both were covered in a soft white glaze. Over the years, time slowly transformed their surface, warming it into a gentle ivory-yellow patina. I loved them when they were new, but I love them even more today, marked by the passage of time. Although modest in price, they have always felt precious. They remain among my favourite objects in my home, perhaps because they arrived already as a pair. I have always been drawn to duos—to the quiet dialogue that exists between two forms sharing the same space. Throughout my home, objects are rarely left alone; they are instinctively paired, becoming companions to one another. These two vases taught me that a pair does not need to be identical to belong together. They are a small lesson in affection, coexistence, and the subtle beauty of things that age side by side.
