I found this moon vase in Seoul during one of my many visits to South Korea. Although contemporary, it draws directly from one of Korea's most celebrated ceramic traditions. During the Joseon dynasty, moon jars were assembled from two separately thrown hemispheres, their subtle asymmetries becoming an essential part of their beauty. Their luminous white surfaces came to symbolize purity, humility, serenity, and harmony with nature, transforming a domestic vessel into an object of quiet contemplation.

I have always believed that every home deserves a certain degree of poetry. This vase embodies that belief. It asks for nothing beyond its own presence, occupying space with a remarkable calm that slowly transforms the atmosphere around it. It reminds me that beauty does not always reside in complexity. Sometimes it appears through silence, restraint, and the quiet confidence of a single white form.
