Amazonian Tiny Vases gifted by my father

These four miniature ceramic vases were a gift from my father during the years he lived in the Brazilian Amazon. Originally they were brightly coloured, carrying an energy and visual language that never quite found a place within my home. For years I kept them stored away, unable either to display them or to part with them.

Eventually, I painted them in a soft off-white. It was a simple gesture that completely transformed my relationship with them. Their origin remained untouched—my father's gift, the memory of the Amazon, the handmade forms—but they were finally able to enter the visual universe I had slowly built around me. Today they stand comfortably beside Japanese ceramics, European glass, and contemporary objects, reminding me that inheritance is never fixed. Sometimes caring for an object also means allowing it to evolve into a new life.
